SEB Merchant Banking is looking for two trainees to join SEB Markets in Oslo starting September 2013 to develop into a future leader within the bank. The Merchant Banking division has overall responsibility for servicing large and medium-sized companies, financial institutions, banks and commercial real estate clients. It operates in 20 countries. Merchant Banking offers its clients integrated investment and corporate banking solutions, including investment banking activities.
Markets is a unit within Merchant Banking and has the responsibility for sales and risk Management of Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Commodities and Structured Derivatives. Business operations are conducted from offices in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Hong Kong, London, New York, Shanghai, Singapore and Oslo.
The trainee programme gives a unique opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of SEB. The programme comprises two parts: A common component of various courses and an individually designed component. Each trainee will work at a “home department” during the traineeship. A tutor, together with the trainee will design a tailored education programme that will include everything from product development to field trips and practical work at the home unit and other SEB units in Oslo and abroad.
The individually designed components will take place in the Foreign Exchange and Strategy team in Oslo, and include work assignment such as:
- Work on projects in close cooperation with our Advisory team on issues such as risk management, investments, accounting and hedging instruments
- Assist our Sales teams in their tasks towards our financial institutions and corporate clients
- Write market updates and generate trading/hedging ideas
- Prepare relevant material and take part in client meetings
During the trainee year you will have the opportunity to visit and work in other business units and to spend part of your time abroad. You will also take part in international SEB training sessions.
