Primary Metal Technology is the technology organization in the business area Primary Metal in Hydro. Hydro is world leader within aluminium production technology. As a part of the technology organization, you will take part in developing next generation technology and provide operational support to our smelters in Norway and abroad. At the Reference Center in Årdal, new technologies are tested and verified in full scale. Our recently developed technology is currently producing aluminium at a current density and power consumption rate which is world class. Hydro has high ambitions for further significant reductions in energy consumption and emissions and to improve efficiency and productivity in electrolysis as well as anode production. We are recruiting new engineers to strengthen our ambitious, international technology organization.

Area of Responsibility

Several positions are available within the fields of electrolysis, process control, cell design, mathematical modelling, anode production and materials technology:

Planning and execution of technology research, innovation and development projects

Development, optimization and implementation of new technical solutions into operation

Operational support to Primary Metal’s worldwide operations

Technology delivery to future smelter investment projects

Qualifications

PhD or Master degree within relevant areas such as: Light Metal Production, Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Cybernetics, Embedded Computing Systems

Analytical mindset with good academic results

Result oriented with strong problem solving skills. Ability to define and achieve targets

Good communication, cooperation and interpersonal skills

Fluency in English, any additional language is an asset

Proven ability to work with others as well as taking lead in a team
