Trainee in HR Policy

Our program for your success

We are committed to preparing you for the job. The Hydro Trainee Program leaves nothing to chance: We will start by discussing your individual assignment plan for the program, which lasts 15 months or more. You will spend three to six months in different departments at two or more sites – one of which will likely be in Norway. Throughout the program you will receive support from our HR department and your personal mentor. You will also benefit from our international on-boarding program, numerous training courses, and networking events where you will have the opportunity to meet other Hydro trainees. This process will enable you to develop into a well-rounded professional. As a trainee, you will be a member of the HR team in the area of Rolled Products. There your tasks will range from the strategic and operative management of personnel in various plants and the assistance to the corporate HR team in Oslo, to transnational operations. You work together constructively with employees’ committees and immerse yourself in individual and collective labor law. And when you’re familiar with all this? Then you can dedicate yourself to HR policy and support restructuring projects as a sparring partner for top management.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you if you have completed your bachelor’s or master’s degree with excellent results in Law or Economics, focusing on human resources or labor law. It’s important to us that you have already gained some insights into the field of human resources in an (international) industrial company with works councils, whether as an intern, while on a practical semester, for your final paper or on vocational training. You are, of course, very interested in topics concerning personnel management and enjoy working together with and for people. We also ask that you bring solid conceptual and analytical skills, which will enable you to develop and implement of HR tools, for example. You will require a good command of written and spoken English and German as well as the ability to work with people from different cultures. In general, you should have good communication skills and be dedicated to what you do. You always have your goal in sight: to bring about positive changes and to create new HR processes.

Our offer

With customized advanced training and development measures, we continue to help you develop even after the end of the program. We will hone your leadership qualities and offer a lot of room to change thanks to our diversity and locations around the globe. And if you’re planning on starting a family: we are certified according to the German "berufundfamilie" (work and family) audit, and even have an on-site daycare facility.

Are you looking to make something of yourself?

Then we are looking forward to your online application.
