Position Summary

The following position will work within the Analysis Desk in the European Trading business unit. TheAnalysis Desk provides in-depth knowledge and analytical support with a specific focus on theEuropean power markets. The role involves a close working relationship with the Power trading deskrequiring the successful candidate to be instrumental in developing a series of bespoke tradingstrategies, reports, price forecasting models and analytical trading tools.The primary responsibility of this role is analysis, origination, modelling and reporting to support theEuropean power trading activities.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities

• Support trading decisions by providing accurate cross-power market analysis and tradingstrategies.
• Ability to methodically synthesize data in order to provide in depth, coherent and consideredmarket views, ultimately influencing both company and individual trading desk strategies.
• Instrumental in developing and supporting in-house analytical tools for both the short & longterm power market analysis team and the power trading desk. For example, but not limited to:fundamental analysis, stack and supply demand modelling and price forecasting.
• Communicate effectively to a wide range of clients (both internal and external) in presentationsand internal company meetings.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Experience in the European power sector or financial sector a plus.
• A Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or similar.
• Experience in some or all of the following: Time Series Analysis, Machine Learning, Optimization,Trading Strategy Development.
• Proven coding skills preferably in Python.
• Familiarity with using large datasets and querying SQL databases.
• Must have a keen commercial sense for strategy origination.
• Innovative thinker, with strong analytical skills: an ability to define problems, collect data,establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
