Are you an exceptional student with an keen interest in computer science, mathematics or data science? We are now accepting applications for summer internships for 2018! The nature of the internship will depend on the candidates that will work on the summer project. We will adapt the project to fit the abilities of the interns and needed functionality at Exabel.

Examples of summer projects include

• Create training data and improve a model for determining entity relations in news articles. Many articles contain references to entities such as people, companies, commodities or events. Given two entities present in an article (e.g. a person and a company), the problem is to determine, based on the information in the article, whether there is a link between the two entities and the nature of that link (e.g. the person is the CEO of the mentioned company).
• Automatic extraction and normalisation of information pertaining to products and companies from Google Trends. A company may have several products or services available, and it is possible to get an understanding of these from news feeds and other data sources. As a proxy for the web traffic and the popularity of a product or service, it is possible to query Google Trends to detect developments in the search space in different time intervals. A possibility for a summer project is to develop a method to discover products and services for various companies and find ways to normalise the responses from Google Trends.
