SKAGEN Funds seeks an analytical candidate for the portfolio trainee program

As part of its effort to attract and develop talented people for our portfolio management team SKAGEN Funds has established a one-year trainee program within its portfolio department.

The aim of the one-year program is to give a unique and accelerated introduction into global financial markets and help the right candidate develop the skills required to become a part of our portfolio management department. As a trainee you will be assigned to different functions in SKAGEN’s portfolio activities. This will involve being a part of:

  • an equity team
  • portfolio specialist team
  • ESG work streams
  • coordinating portfolio activities  
  • trading

You will rotate through these different teams to gain in-depth exposure and explore the different tasks and responsibilities within a portfolio management department.

You will contribute across the whole department to learn how to implement SKAGEN’s value-based investment philosophy on a day-to-day basis and gain a holistic understanding, competence, and experience of investment management.

Tasks of this role will involve taking part in independent analysis, ESG analysis, idea generation and documentation as well as supporting the funds’ external communications.

What we are looking for:

a genuine interest in global markets and business

strong analytical skills

comfortable with taking initiative

ability to both work and think independently

highly adaptable and motivated to work in a high intensity department

solid interpersonal and communication skills

a proficient user of Microsoft Office

 

We would expect candidates to hold an MA or MSc degree with strong academic credentials.

The position will be located in Stavanger, Norway. Fluency in a Scandinavian language is an advantage, and candidates must be either fluent or able to learn to a proficient level.
