PhD Candidate at the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management
There is a temporary position available at the department as PhD Candidate in industrial economics and technology management for a period of 3 years. This is an educational position which will provide promising research recruits the opportunity for professional development through studies towards a PhD degree. The position is connected to the PhD program at the faculty of economics and management and the faculty will be your employer.

Content of position/obligations
During the period 2018-2025 the department will strengthen and develop four strategic research areas:
The PhD position will focus on one of the strategic research areas and the application should clearly motivate to which disciplinary field and strategic areas the PhD position belongs.
A main goal for the department is to conduct/create quality research at a high international standard. As part of this, contact with international learning institutions is important. Therefore, the institute considers it an advantage that the person employed in the position spend 1-2 semesters at a foreign apprenticeship during the employment period. The institute helps to facilitate this.
Qualifications and skills
Employment will be activated in accordance to existing regulations of 31.01.06. The requirement for the position is a completed master’s degree in industrial economy and technology management or education to equivalent level. Applicants must have a strong academic record from their previous studies, and must have a weighted average grade for the last two years of their master's or equivalent education (equivalent to 120 credits) of B or higher in terms of NTNU's grading scale. Applicants with no letter grades from previous studies must have an equally good academic foundation. Applicants who are unable to meet these criteria may be admitted only if they can document that they are particularly suitable candidates for education leading to a Ph.D.-degree. Fluent English skills are required.
Candidates will be ranked according to their qualification and competence, the quality of the project and research potential. Personal skills as teamwork, ability to work independently, work capacity and enthusiasm will be emphasized.
Cooperation skills and communication skills are important for the position and will be highly weighted in the selection process.
Salary and Working Conditions
The PhD position is paid according to salary level 51 in the national salary scheme, minimum gross NOK 449.400,- per year, of which 2 % is deducted for the State Pension Scheme.

The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants. The employee is expected to accept possible changes in work tasks. Primary residency in Trondheim is a prerequisite.

Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management
IØT has challenging and inspiring educational programmes and research projects in the cross-disciplinary field of technology management. Through its programmes of study, IØT educates candidates with a solid technological basis in methodology and theory on how to develop and manage technologically based organisations.
Participation in, and development of, research projects in close co-operation with Norwegian industry, the department is also developing models, tools and methods for how to manage Norwegian industry.
