Graduate 2021 - Quality Engineer

Technology and Operational Support (TOS) is part of Hydro’s Primary Metal business area, which has a total annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons of primary aluminium and around 5000 employees in 16 countries. The main task of TOS is to support all commercial and operational units in accelerating Primary Metal’s profitability and sustainability agenda in the short and medium term - while having longer term technology development as a core activity.

We are now recruiting a Graduate to join the Operational Support Casthouse team in TOS. They support casthouses in 15 locations around the world to achieve their goals within safety, quality and productivity, and to contribute to Hydro’s strategic ambition to increase recycling and the production of greener products.

If you’d like to use and develop your technical knowledge in a collaborative environment with high activity and involvement across many locations, this is a great opportunity for you to start your career!

Area of responsibility

As part of the Casthouse Support team, you will work closely with our plants, driving and supporting projects and improvements. These are some key tasks:

  • Contribute to problem-solving and improvement initiatives
  • Support cross functional learning between the casthouses around the world
  • Participate in and develop performance audits in casthouses
  • Support Hydro’s commercial strategy and implementation of new products for customers
  • Use data to analyze and improve operation
  • Contact and cooperate with Hydro's technology department
  • Secondments to casthouses, also internationally

Our Graduate positions give considerable knowledge about the aluminium business and are essential for developing new leaders and professionals in Hydro. Key roles will typically require experience from different parts of the company, so a Graduate is expected to be flexible and mobile. For the right candidate, the position might give interesting possibilities both nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree within Materials Science, Metallurgy or similar
  • Maximum 2 years’ work experience after graduation
  • Good academic results and analytical skills
  • Commitment to protecting health, safety, security and environment (HSE) through your attitude and actions
  • Fluency in English is required. Additional skills in Norwegian, German, French or Spanish will be considered an advantage

To succeed in this position, we believe that you should be curious, motivated by understanding and solving issues in collaboration with others. You have an analytical approach and are driven by continuous learning and development. If you’re also keen to experience different locations, we’d very much like to consider your application.
