All positions are permanent, within different business units and areas of expertise, but all graduate positions will take part in the graduate program.

 

Graduate AMBS- Quality Engineer - Årdal

In addition to production of primary aluminium, rolled and extruded products and recycling, Hydro also extracts bauxite, refines alumina and generates energy to be the only 360° company of the global aluminium industry. The Primary Metal business area has a total annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons of primary aluminium and has around 5,000 employees in 16 countries. We produce primary aluminium, recycle and supply our customers with extrusion ingot, sheet ingot, foundry alloys and wire rod.  

 

The foundry alloy and sheet ingot casthouses in Årdal produce around 220 000 tons of semi-finished products per year. Foundry alloys are commonly used in car parts such as wheels, engine and suspension parts, and structural components, whereas sheet ingots are used to produce foil, plates for offset-print, building and construction, automotive industry and bright finish specialty products.

 

To ensure delivery of advanced products to demanding customers, we are looking for a Quality Engineer to join the team. The candidate will be dedicated to the Casthouse unit, being responsible for development projects and other relevant tasks.

 

Area of responsibility

  • Get to know our Aluminium Metal Business System (AMBS) from theory to practice
  • Analyze measurements from process technical parameters and/or equipment related parameters 
  • Be a part of the local AMBS Team and participate in the Norwegian AMBS network
  • Improvement and optimization of the quality system 
  • Use of data analysis tools 
  • Contact and cooperation with Hydro's technology department 
  • Development and follow-up of parameters for new products 

 

The position is essential for developing new leaders and professionals and gives considerable knowledge about the aluminium business. For the right candidate the position might give interesting possibilities both nationally and internationally. 

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree within Materials Science, Metallurgy or similar 
  • Maximum 2 years of work experience after graduation 
  • Good academic results  
  • Good analytical skills 
  • Fluency in English and Norwegian 
  • Strong customer focus 
  • You work well in teams but also have the ability to work independently 
  • Involvement in student activities is considered an advantage 

 
To succeed in this role, you are able to work efficiently through other people. We also believe that you are proactive with a result-oriented attitude and strong problem-solving skills. You communicate and collaborate well with others and are driven by continuous learning and development.
