About the role

The squad is a part of the Backbone tribe that delivers a broad spectrum of services to internal clients and is working on the core of all the data in Sportradar. Our main purpose is to make back-end data available to others and as of now, our focus is to build all our services available for the cloud.

As a Java Developer, you will be part of the Mapping/Search squad. The squad is responsible for mapping external and internal entities and providing effective search facilities. We’re like google for sports data! Our goal is to provide super-fast and accurate data to empower Sportradar to create market-leading and innovative solutions for our customers. We work in a modern, collaborative development environment using GitLab, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery. No old legacy, just new and modern technology is our goal!

In your role, you will build and improve back-end services and focus on testing, maintainable code, observability, and alerting. You will follow your services through a complete delivery pipeline, from design, development to deployment and monitoring it in production, as well as being an active part in making the most out of our AWS partnership and helping with migration to a cloud-native architecture.

We are currently part of a cooperation with another team with a total of six developers located in Trondheim, but the broader team has offices in Norway, Poland, Spain, England, the USA, and Germany. We are structured as a squad in the context of Spotification. We follow agile methodology with a focus on CI/CD and short delivery cycle times. Our tech stack includes Java, Docker, Kubernetes, Protobuf, and gRPC.

There are many reasons to be a part of Sportradar

A social, healthy, and including environment for everyone: we have a broad range of activities throughout the year, such as winter trips, summer parties, beer brewing, sports such as climbing, table tennis, darts, golf and running, and of course the traditional Christmas Party (with partners). You also get time off weekly to exercise and are welcome to join our running team

Career opportunities: whether you are ambitious in terms of becoming an expert in a new field or want to become a leader to others, we have every opportunity internal that you could want. We also have a mobility program that allows you to spend 3-6 months on one of our development offices, such as Ljubljana, Warsaw, and Minneapolis

Training and Hackathons: Sportsradar cover everything you need to develop your skillset: conferences, training, and more. We arrange Sportradar ShipIt twice a year, organize internal hackathons, and free you from work four hours each week to spend on your development

Flexibility: flexible hours and the possibility to work from home when needed
