Java Developer with interest in databases and testing

Do you want to work back-end in a leading global sports technology company creating immersive experiences? We offer career opportunities, exciting tasks, and an impressive environment!

About the role

You will be part of the team working on Sportradar's Odds products which offer popular pre-match and in-play trading services, used by over 200 customers, for 83 sports and 750,000 events worldwide. The services are fully automated and ready for direct customer use over API’s and web interfaces. The client can control their sportsbook in web interfaces, configuring everything from event and odds creation to market monitoring and result confirmation.

In your role, you will take part in our work by migrating the remaining legacy code to our modern tech stack. In some cases, you may have to explore our past to build the future. Having analytical skills can be a benefit in this position. You will be working on the newest technology, where your days will not only include developing a brand new solution but also taking part in projects around alerting, monitoring and security. Maybe you want to become the new “Security Champion”?

We are 6 developers in the squad, located in Trondheim, Oslo, Bergen, UK, and Finland. We are structured as a squad in the context of Spotification. The squad is applying agile ways of working such as Kanban and following trunk-based development with frequent retrospectives to improve. Our tech stack includes Java, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, gRPC/Protobuf, Quarkus, Microservices, CI/CD, SQL++.

As a Java Developer, you will be a part of a team that is working on pre-match Odds. We are currently working on updating the automated Odds trading systems. This is an initiative that is focused on enabling latency reduction, scalability, and maintainability. We are optimizing auto trading performance, stability, and availability of our systems by splitting tools into smaller and manageable services and migrating them to the cloud.

There are many reasons to be a part of Sportradar

A social, healthy, and including environment for everyone: we have a broad range of activities throughout the year, such as winter trips, summer parties, beer brewing, sports such as climbing, table tennis, darts, golf and running, and of course the traditional Christmas Party (with partners). You also get time off weekly to exercise and are welcome to join our running team

Career opportunities: whether you are ambitious in terms of becoming an expert in a new field or want to become a leader to others, we have every opportunity internal that you could want. We also have a mobility program which allows you to spend 3-6 months on one of our development offices, such as Ljubljana, Warsaw and Minneapolis

Training and Hackathons: Sportradar cover everything you need to develop your skillset: conferences, training, and more. We arrange Sportradar ShipIt twice a year, organize internal Hackathons, and free you from work four hours each week to spend on your development

Flexibility: flexible hours and the possibility to work from home when needed

Conditions and benefits: competitive wage, pension, and insurance, as well as a covered phone subscription and subsidized phone, subsidized cafeteria and much more

We are looking for

  • Relevant education
  • Good skills in Java or other OOP language
  • Interest in and preferably experience with SQL and testing
  • Preferably experience with Kubernetes
  • Good communication skills in English

It's important what competence you have, but just as important is who you are as a person. You are a team player and collaborate well with others, but are also able to take responsibility for your tasks and work hard to reach your goals. You are eager to learn and take on new tasks, and are happy to take initiative if you see that something can be done differently or made more efficient.

This recruitment process is executed by Academic Work. For questions, contact Mari Helland at [email protected].

We are looking forward to receiving your application by 05. December.
