Who are Wilhelmsen?
Founded in Norway in 1861, Wilhelmsen is now a comprehensive global maritime group providing products and services to the merchant fleet, along with supplying crew and technical management to the largest and most complex vessels ever to sail. With the world's largest maritime network on call 24/7, our people can deliver products and services on the ground practically anywhere you have ships. We are committed to shaping the maritime industry and seek to develop new opportunities and collaborations in renewables, zero-emission shipping, and marine digitalization.
What will you do?
You will apply your expertise and analytical skills to solve a real-world problem in one of our business units. Previous projects include developing a tool for optimizing inventory planning based on historical data and market trends, a decision-support tool for onboard waste handling, a roadmap for decarbonizing our global supply chain, and utilizing data for voyage planning and fuel efficiency. Your role will involve working in a team to analyze data, develop strategies, and present findings to key stakeholders. You will engage in tasks that require critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to tackle real-world challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking analytical and creative individuals who enjoy teamwork and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders. Applications are encouraged from students across disciplines such as engineering, data science, economics, and business, with a strong interest in shipping, sustainability, and business development. 3rd and 4th year students will be prioritized.
Why should you apply?
You will gain insight into a leading maritime organization with connections and interests spanning the globe. The internship will offer you the chance to develop your skills, gain industry experience, and make meaningful contributions that could influence our business's future direction. The internship serves as a gateway to a career in the maritime industry – many previous interns have successfully transitioned into graduate roles after completing their studies, setting the stage for long-term career growth within the sector.
The project will span six weeks, running from June to August, with a three-week vacation in-between. The work location will be our head office at Lysaker, Oslo. You need to have Right to Work in Norway for the duration of the internship.
