Do you want to analyse the future of the power market?

THEMA is a leading consultancy supporting the power sector and the renewables industry. We work across the value chain and our employees gain a unique, comprehensive understanding of the industry's challenges and opportunities.

The energy system needs to be transformed in the coming decades and we help our clients to navigate this transition with confidence. Our clients are primarily based in the Nordics and Continental Europe and include governments, power producers, grid companies, electricity suppliers, industry organisations and investors.

THEMA is looking for professional candidates to join our market analysis team. If recruited, you will model and analyse developments in European power markets, the EU Emissions Trading System and the Guarantees of Origin market. You can choose to work from either our Oslo or Berlin offices.

You will:

  • Help analyse future developments in all the markets that we cover,
  • Follow and interpret developments that might affect future prices, the supply mix and more,
  • Communicate market analysis to the rest of the team and clients,
  • Support the development of new market analysis products,
  • Support clients with tailored market analysis, and
  • Derive clear recommendations, helping clients to understand the implications of our findings.

We need you to be self-driven, dedicated, independent and curious, with a structured approach to analytical work. You should be eager to follow market developments continuously, proactive in seeking out new information and able to drive the continuous improvement of our analysis and tools. You have to be a team player. With us, you will be part of a team comprising the best consultants in the industry and will help to further strengthen our position as a leading consultancy in the power sector.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Are eager to work with power market analysis and forecasting,
  • Want to work in the energy industry and on sustainability issues,
  • Have a relevant master's degree or PhD in economics, engineering, mathematics, computer science or another quantitative field,
  • Have very good academic results,
  • Have 0–5 years relevant experience from, for instance, the power sector, consulting or market analysis (recent graduates are also encouraged to apply),
  • Are exceptionally good at problem-solving and have strong analytical skills,
  • Have the ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information,
  • Have good written and oral communication skills in English—knowledge of a Nordic language is an advantage, and
  • Can work well in teams with colleagues and clients.

Knowledge of Python programming is an advantage but is not required.

With us, you will be able to:

  • Join a leading power sector consultancy working alongside thought-leaders in the industry,
  • Take a key role in THEMA’s market analysis work,
  • Work closely with both our expert staff and with our clients,
  • Enjoy varied work, for diverse clients on multiple different issues,
  • Work in a friendly, intellectually stimulating, and informal environment, and
  • Participate in fun activities both during and outside of working hours.

If you are interested, please send an application with your CV and grades to us by August 21st . Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview, to get to know each other better and find out if we are a good match.
